CHICAGO, June 2, 2016—Consumer advocates and environmental groups have made significant progress in discussions with ComEd and Exelon. More work needs to be done to add key consumer protections, but we do see a path forward. This is an excellent and unique opportunity for the state of Illinois to become a national leader by pioneering a modern energy policy that creates jobs, promotes clean energy and efficiency, and helps people save money on their electric bills. We are committed to continuing discussions and working toward a final agreement that is beneficial to all of Illinois.

Created by the Illinois Legislature, CUB opened its doors in 1984 to represent the interests of residential and small-business utility customers. Since then, the nonprofit utility watchdog group has saved consumers more than $20 billion by helping to block rate hikes and secure refunds.
