How CUB's Latest News Feed Works
Whenever CUB adds or updates content to our Web site, we mention that addition on our Latest News Feed page. The subject is posted on the page along with a link to the updated content.

The Latest News Feed page is written in XML, which is not always the friendliest way to view information. (But we'll show you how to make it friendly.) News services pick up these news feeds and the staff reads the headlines. If it interests them, they click on the link and view CUB's Latest News.

By the way, many news services offer their own RSS pages.

The good thing is that you do not have to work for a news agency to see it.

Here’s the link http://www.citizensutilityboard.org/latestnews.xml. If you clicked on the link, you’ll see that it is not in a friendly format for viewing.

It’s easy to put the page in a friendly format. Read on to find out how.
Add it to your aggregator
An aggregator is not a baby crocodile that someone dumped in the city sewer system. A news aggregator is a computer application that reads RSS pages and turns them into friendly formats for viewing.

Some aggregators are free, and you can download them online. We suggest you go to Google or Yahoo and find one that suits your needs.

Add to My Yahoo!
MyYahoo! accepts RSS pages. Some cell phones offer aggregators. You can get the latest news delivered directly to your cell phone.

If you want to turn our RSS page into friendly formatted content, you’ll need to get an aggregator, a news reader.
Should I Aggregate?
To aggregate or not to aggregate? Well, don’t get aggravated over aggregating. If you read a lot of news online, you should try it.

When you use an aggregator you subscribe to the news services that provide you information you want to read. Those services feed you the latest news that you’ve subscribed to.
