What rebates are available?
Peoples Gas customers are eligible to receive rebates on certain types of energy-efficient furnaces, boilers, water heaters, insulation and clothes washers they have bought or will buy from December 15, 2008 to April 30, 2009.
How much are the rebates?
They can save property owners up to $750 on insulation, $600 on boilers, $450 on furnaces, $400 on water heaters, and $100 on clothes washers. The rebate would come in the form of a check.
How do I qualify for the rebates?
Gas furnaces, boilers, and water heaters must be installed by professional contractors. Property owners may opt to self-install insulation and clothes washers, or hire a professional contractor. Only certain product models and insulation are eligible. Go to the Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program website to get more information, or call 1-866-964-7345.
How do I apply for the rebates?
Peoples Gas customers can apply online or by mail by printing out an application form. Applications must be postmarked or completed online no later than 60 days after the purchase or by May 31, 2009, whichever comes first. Rebate checks will take six to eight weeks to arrive. To apply, visit the Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program.
What is the Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program?
The Citizens Utility Board, Illinois Attorney General’s Office, and Environmental Law & Policy Center petitioned the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) to force Peoples Gas to offer this program as part of an effort to improve energy-efficiency and save Chicago-area consumers money.
