Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program
Introduction
Program updates
• If you purchase any eligible equipment from a participating contractor, you can receive your rebate immediately as an instant discount. Contractors interested in learning more should read the Contractor Instant Discount Guidelines.
• Clothes washers purchased after October 31st, 2009 are not eligible for rebates, and the rebate amount for gas storage heaters has changed.
• Landlords are now eligible to receive rebates for qualifying products.
If you are a customer of Peoples Gas or North Shore Gas, you are now eligible to receive rebates for purchasing select energy efficient products. The program is open to residential, multi-unit building owner, and small commercial customers of the two utilities who fall within service classes 1 (residential) and 2 (general service). The program will be available until funds are depleted.

Eligible equipment includes certain types of energy-efficient furnaces, boilers, water heaters and insulation. Rebate amounts range from $70 to $750. Read on for more information about eligible equipment, requirements, such as professional installation, and the application process.

CUB, along with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and the Environmental Law & Policy Center, petitioned the Illinois Commerce Commission to force Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas to offer this program as part of an effort to improve energy-efficiency and save Chicago-area consumers money. Visit our page on energy policy for more information about this ruling.
