Energy Star is the mark of energy-efficient appliances. It's
also a great website created by the Environmental Protection Agency and the
Department of Energy. It has money-saving tips for the home and business, lists
energy-efficient products, and can help you search for rebates and tax credits
connected to buying Energy Star-labeled products. If you have questions, call

federal tax credits are available for those purchasing hybrid

Energy Efficiency Alliance
The
Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA), 312-587-8390,
is a regional network of government agencies, utilities and organizations
collaborating to promote energy efficiency.

Homes for Everyone
Green Homes for Everyone gives tips on how to make your home
more energy efficient. "From Seattle to Des Moines to New York City, anyone can
have a green home," it says. "Rented or owned, affordable or market-rate,
single-family or multi-unit, urban, suburban or rural: If it’s housing, it can
be green."
Keep
Warm Illinois
Keep Warm Illinois provides tips for households and businesses
to save energy and lower their utility bills, including an online tool to
conduct a home energy audit. The Keep Warm Illinois website also provides
information about state energy assistance programs.
