Your thoughts on an AT&T/T-Mobile merger
April 12, 2011—Last week, CUB polled Illinois consumers on AT&T’s $39 billion bid to take over T-Mobile. More than 700 people responded. Thanks!

So, what do you think happens when the second largest wireless carrier combines with the fourth? Roughly 2 out of 3 said callers will see higher prices and less competition.

“AT&T is long on promises and short on delivery,” wrote one consumer.

“I'm currently a
T-Mobile customer and I will quit as soon as the AT&T logo appears on my bill,” wrote another.

About 7 percent thought the deal would be good for the wireless industry, and 24 percent weren't sure.

“Maybe the merger will make it possible for me to receive a signal in places where I can't now,” wrote one man.
