Hiya, Kiya!
Meet CUB's spokesdog and consumers' best friend ![]() In a "spokespet" competition asking people to pick the dog or cat star of CUB's next video on saving money, the Siberian husky was top dog. Kiya captured 62 percent of more than 1,000 votes cast, besting Sparrow, a 3-year-old silver tabby that toyed with the lead early. Sparrow, a diva known for pouncing on the heads of her opponents, had no comment Tuesday. But Kiya's publicist issued a statement: "Woof....pant....woof!" barked the happy husky, known more for wagging than words. Kiya, a seasoned professional at 56 (in dog years), reportedly has signed a multimillion dog-bone contract to help the consumer group spread the word about its free money-saving services. The contract fits CUB's shoestring budget perfectly. The nonprofit, nonpartisan watchdog has helped save phone, natural gas, and electric customers $10 billion since 1984—thanks to contributions from Illinois consumers. Kiya's fans are panting for more information on the mysterious new lead. But they'll have to wait for Kiya’s CUB video debut in a future e-newsletter. Stay tuned! Tweet |
