Attention ComEd and Ameren customers:
Your electric rates have changed ![]() Electric bills are basically divided into two parts: energy supply and delivery. ComEd customers will see their energy supply charges—the cost for the electricity itself—dip by less than a penny, to 7.733 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) (includes "Transmission Services Charge"). Delivery charges—the cost for bringing that power to homes—will stay the same. Ameren customers will see their energy charges actually increase by up to 1 cent per kWh. But there’s good news: Delivery charges will decrease by about 1 cent per kWh or more. For a full listing of the delivery and supply charges for ComEd, Ameren, and MidAmerican, see CUB’s “Making Sense of Your Electric Bill” fact sheet. With the introduction of competition in Illinois’ electricity market, it's important to stay informed about your utility's supply price. CUB has a fact sheet that helps Ameren and ComEd customers make an apples-to-apples comparison between utility prices and the prices offered by competitors. Remember, if you switch to an alternative supplier, you still have to pay your utility the delivery charges to get the electricity to your home. Tweet |
