CFLs use 75 percent less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and can last up to 10 times longer. With a slumping economy and the winter heating season fast approaching, this bulb giveaway is good news for consumers.

“CFLs are great for both your pocketbook and the planet,” said Rebecca Devens, CUB’s environmental outreach coordinator. “Each CFL can save you up to $50 on your electric bill over the bulb’s lifetime, which could be as long as nine years!”

CUB’s CFL giveaway is:
2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 23
Brookfield Zoo, north and south gates
3300 Golf Road
Brookfield

The first 4,000 zoogoers to exit the zoo will receive a free bulb, and the event will last until supplies run out. Free bulbs will be limited to one per adult.
