CHICAGO, August 17, 2009—The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) will hold a news conference to release a report
on Illinois' cell-phone industry using actual billing data that until now has only been collected by wireless companies. The report, "Surviving The Cell-phone Jungle," is based on statistics taken from nearly 7,000 bills analyzed by CUB's free online tool, the CUB Cellphone Saver, which pores over individual bills and produces free, customized analyses showing Illinois consumers how to cut their bills. CUB’s report will present a detailed picture of Illinois consumers’ calling habits: a top-to-bottom breakdown of every charge on their bills, the shockingly high number of calling minutes they pay for but never get used, and an analysis of how average callers could save hundreds of dollars a year on their wireless bills.
