CUB To Hand Out Free Money-saving Bulbs At Mall In Bourbonnais
CHICAGO, Oct. 13, 2009—The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) will be at the Northfield Square Mall in Bourbonnais to hand out free energy-efficient Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs that can help slash electric bills.
CUB’s CFL giveaway is:
12 p.m. to 2 p.m. (or until supplies run out), Saturday, Oct. 24
Northfield Square Mall—Common Area 1600 N. State Route 50 Bourbonnais Free bulbs will be limited to one per adult and will be available until supplies run out. “In the middle of an economic downturn, we’re all looking for ways to cut costs, and this is a perfect event to do just that,” said Rebecca Devens, CUB’s environmental outreach coordinator. “CFLs are great for your pocketbook and the planet.” The event should be welcomed news for Bourbonnais consumers. In addition to the nation’s economic woes, just last year ComEd, northern Illinois’ power company, was granted a $270 million rate hike, which CUB is appealing. CUB is Illinois’ leading nonprofit utility watchdog organization. It was created by the Illinois legislature in 1983 to represent the interests of residential and small-business utility customers. Since then, CUB has saved consumers more than $10 billion by helping to block rate hikes and secure refunds. For more information, call CUB’s Consumer Hotline at 1-800-669-5556. |
