CHICAGO, February 3, 2012—The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) will give a presentation on natural gas bills, answering consumer questions on confusing charges and giving tips on how to save money and avoid rip-offs.

Aimee Gendusa-English, CUB's senior consumer rights counselor, will share helpful information she's learned after nearly a decade on the staff of Illinois' only consumer watchdog group dedicated to helping utility customers save money.

"A lot of people dread getting their gas bills, but half the battle is just taking a few minutes to look at them each month," Gendusa-English said. "We can help you lift the fog around your gas bills so you'll have the tools to avoid skyrocketing costs."

Alternative gas supplier offers in northern Illinois. Chicago-area consumers can choose a company other than their utility to supply them with natural gas. Are those good deals?
CUB Energy Saver, www.CUBEnergySaver.com, a free online service that helps consumers build a personalized plan to cut their energy bills by hundreds of dollars a year and rewards those who reduce their energy usage with restaurant and shopping discounts.

CUB is Illinois' leading nonprofit utility watchdog organization. Created by the Illinois Legislature, CUB opened its doors in 1984 to represent the interests of residential and small-business utility customers. Since then, CUB has saved consumers more than $10 billion by helping to block rate hikes and secure consumer refunds.
