CUB’s money-saving events in March

Spring is just around the corner (March 20), and we have milder weather and lower gas prices to look forward to. 

Below you will find several events to help protect your bottom line by practicing energy efficiency, cutting TV costs, avoiding rip-offs and other ways to save that CUB has learned over the years. We hope to see you there.

10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Mar. 1: Dupage County Senior Expo

Stop by our table at the Dupage County Senior Expo for information on energy efficiency and cutting your utility bills. This event will take place at Drury Lane Theatre & Conference Center (100 Drury Ln, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181).

7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, Mar. 2: Home Energy Savings with CUB 

In times when gas and electricity are costly, consumers need to be well-informed on ways to save and lower their utility costs. CUB will show you how to decode your bills, spot errors, and take advantage of real programs designed to save energy and money. This event will take place at the Indian Prairie Public Library (401 Plainfield Rd, Darien, IL 60561). Register here.  

10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, Mar. 3: Coffee with CUB

Join CUB’s Outreach Team for the March edition of Coffee with CUB! This month, they’ll be having an informal discussion on common utility scams. 6:00 – 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Mar. 7: Utility Bill Clinic with State Sen. Laura Ellman

CUB and state Sen. Ellman are hosting a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. This event will take place at the Glen Ellyn Public Library (400 Duane St, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137). Register here. 

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Saturday, Mar. 11: Franklin Park Utility Bill Clinic

CUB is hosting a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. This event will take place at the Franklin Park Library (10311 Grand Ave, Franklin Park, IL 60131). Please register with the library’s Info Desk at 847-455-6016, ext. 229.

1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Mar. 15: The CUB Renter’s Guide

Join CUB and the Lansing Public Library (2750 Indiana Ave, Lansing, IL 60438) for a free, in-person presentation focused on CUB’s Renter’s Guide. During this presentation, a CUB representative will cover how to navigate utilities when you live in a rental unit, energy efficiency tips to help apartment dwellers reduce utility bills and solar energy options for renters. 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, Mar. 16: Cable Options and Reducing Robocalls 

Join CUB and the Lake Villa District Library (140 N Munn Rd, Lindenhurst, IL 60046) for an in-person presentation on your TV options and reducing robocalls. During this event, a CUB representative will discuss ways to cut your cable costs and the different choices in the TV market. No registration required. 

11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Monday, Mar. 20: Utility Bill Clinic with State Rep. Mary Beth Canty

CUB and state Rep. Canty are hosting a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. This event will take place at the CCSD21 Community Service Center and Administrative Office (CSCAO) (959 W Dundee Rd, Wheeling, IL 60090). Register here.

Join CUB and Chicago alderman Matt O’Shea for a virtual presentation on your TV options and reducing robocalls. During this event, a CUB representative will discuss ways to cut your cable costs and the different choices in the TV market. Register here.

6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Mar. 23: Cable Options and Reducing Robocalls 

Join CUB and Homewood Public Library (17917 Dixie Hwy, Homewood, IL 60430) for a virtual presentation on your TV options and reducing robocalls. During this event, a CUB representative will discuss ways to cut your cable costs and the different choices in the TV market. Register here.

6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Mar. 23: Home Energy Savings with CUB 

Join CUB and Ald. Matt O’Shea for a virtual presentation on how to better understand your utility bills and find out about the free programs available to help cut your monthly costs. Tips on making your home more energy efficient during the winter months will also be provided. Register here.
