The Decatur Herald & Review editorial page gave CUB a “thumbs up” for its new office in Hillsboro. Check it out:
THUMBS UP! To the Citizens Utility Board for locating its first downstate office in Hillsboro. The city was chosen mainly because it is among the first communities where smart meters are scheduled to be installed by Ameren Illinois. CUB says the meters are a gateway to new technology to help consumers save on their power bills and it wants to be close at-hand to watch over the process and offer guidance to families and businesses. “If the smart grid technology works the way it should work, there will be good options for consumers,” said David Kolata, CUB’s executive director. “We want to make sure that occurs and that is one of the reasons we want to be down there on the ground in Central Illinois observing on a day-to-day basis.”
The positive comments were sparked by veteran reporter Tony Reid’s story about the new Hillsboro office, the first office CUB has ever opened in Central Illinois.
Thanks, Decatur Herald & Review. Keep fighting the good fight, and we will too.
Our mission is to make sure consumers across Illinois get the benefits of these new smart upgrades to the power grid, not just the bill!
