Remember: you don’t have to open the door to alternative supplier sales representatives even if they do come by your home. If you do want to find out more about their offer, don’t feel pressured into making a decision at your doorstep. Take a day or two to consider the offer, and call CUB’s Consumer Hotline (1-800-669-5556) if you have questions.
Also, don’t give your bill or account number to a sales rep, unless you are sure you want to sign up for an offer. If an unscrupulous door-to-door sales rep gets your account number, they can sign you up for an offer without your permission—a scam called “slamming.”
