Kick off 2023 with CUB’s money-saving events in January

Happy New Year, everyone! This month, we have a jam-packed schedule of on-line and in-person events across the state to help you save money in 2023. We hope to see you at an event in the near future.

7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, Jan. 9: Going Electric: On the Road and in Your Home

Join CUB and The Cook County Department of Environment & Sustainability for a virtual webinar on the benefits of electric vehicles and more efficient and affordable electric alternatives. There will be a Q&A following the presentation. Join the meeting here. 

7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10: Understanding Cable and Reducing Robocalls

Join CUB and the Winfield Public Library for a virtual presentation on your TV options and reducing robocalls. During this event, a CUB representative will discuss ways to cut your cable costs and the different choices in the TV market. Register here.

7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10: Clean Energy and Solar with CUB

CUB and the Elmhurst Public Library are hosting a virtual webinar exploring solar power and clean sources of energy to make your home greener and to lower your energy costs. The webinar will be recorded and posted on the library’s YouTube page. Register here.

Join CUB at the Grayslake Area Public Library (100 Library Lane Grayslake, IL 60030) for a free in-person presentation on energy savings. Learn about consumer protections, the latest Illinois policies and how they will impact you, and how to decode your gas and electric bills. Register here.

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18: Navigating Your Utility Bills with CUB

CUB and the Chinese American Service League (CASL) are co-hosting a virtual presentation focused on helping residents understand the charges on their gas and electric bills. This presentation will be translated into Mandarin. Register for the Zoom webinar here. 

7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18: Navigating Your Utility Bills with CUB and Cook County

CUB and The Cook County Department of Environment & Sustainability are hosting a presentation on understanding your utility bills. Topics include energy efficiency, weatherization, special pricing programs and solar options. This event will take place in-person and virtually. 12:00 – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21: Utility Bill Clinic with State Rep. Barbara Hernandez

CUB and state Rep. Hernandez are hosting a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. This event will take place at the Santori Library (101 S River St, Aurora, IL 60506) on a first-come, first-served basis.

Join CUB and the Byron Public Library for a virtual presentation on your TV options and reducing robocalls. During this event, a CUB representative will discuss ways to cut your cable costs and the different choices in the TV market. Register here.

6:30 – 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24: Understanding Cable and Reducing Robocalls

Join CUB and the Bloomington Public Library for a virtual presentation on your TV options and reducing robocalls. During this event, a CUB representative will discuss ways to cut your cable costs and the different choices in the TV market. Register here.

7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24: Home Energy Savings with CUB

During this virtual presentation, CUB will go over how to better understand your utility bills and find out about the free programs available to help cut your monthly costs. Tips on making your home more energy efficient during the winter months will also be provided. Register here.

5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26: Utility Bill Clinic with Worth Public Library

CUB and the Worth Public Library are hosting a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. Register by calling Debbie at 708-448-2855 ext. 5.

6:00 – 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26: Peoria Clean and Equitable Jobs Virtual Town Hall 

The Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) was passed in September 2021 and is one of the nation’s most equitable and comprehensive clean energy bills. At this online event, we’ll discuss how you can take advantage of clean energy and energy efficiency.

This event is being co-hosted by the Illinois Environmental Council, Climate Jobs Illinois, Central Illinois Healthy Community Alliance and the Sierra Club’s Illinois chapter. Register here.
