CUB’s Outreach team travels across the state of Illinois to staff free events to give consumers energy efficiency tips for their home, educate them on how clean energy can cut their utility bills and help people protect themselves from scams and rip-offs.
As we head into spring, people are starting to think about how they can make their homes more energy efficient for the summer. We hope to see you at one of these events!
5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 6, Freeport Utility Bill Clinic (in-person)
Join CUB, the Environmental Study Group and state Rep. John M. Cabello for a free utility bill clinic at the Freeport Public Library (100 E. Douglas St., Freeport, IL 61032). CUB will provide suggestions on how to reduce your utility bills and tap into money-saving, clean energy programs. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to receive a personalized analysis of their bills. Register here to reserve your spot.

Are you a homeowner? Join CUB, A Just Harvest and Garfield Park Community Council at the Austin Town Hall (5610 W. Lake St. Chicago, IL 60644) to learn more about Illinois Solar for All and other ways to save on your electric bill! Income-eligible households that are interested in solar power may benefit from this program. “What should I do?” is the most common question from those who want to protect our planet from environmental harm. Visit the Earth Awareness Fair at Frankfort Public Library (21119 S. Pfeiffer Rd., Frankfort, IL 60423) to discover how you can lend your skills and passion to support local organizations dedicated to promoting a healthy environment for everyone. Organizations and individuals will showcase ways to encourage Earth stewardship, resilience, sustainability, and community.

Join CUB and the Norridge Police Department at the Seniors Assistance Center (7774 W. Irving Park Rd. Norridge, IL 60706) to learn about your energy choices and ways to save money on your utility bills.

Join CUB at the Geneva Public Library District (227 S. 7th St., Geneva, IL 60134) for a presentation on solar and the benefits of clean energy. Listen to a CUB expert explain different solar programs and incentives in Illinois, why clean energy is more affordable and reliable, and how policies like the state Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) and the federal Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) benefit consumers.
