CUB’s money-saving events in July

CUB’s Outreach team travels across Illinois to staff free events giving consumers energy efficiency tips for their home, educating them on how clean energy can cut their utility bills and helping people protect themselves from scams and rip-offs. 

As we face another hot summer, CUB can help you learn how to make your home more efficient. We hope to see you at an event soon!

4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, Northfield Utility Bill Clinic (in-person)
Join CUB and Northfield Township at the Sunset Village’s Community Clubhouse (2450 Waukegan Rd., Northfield, IL 60093) for a free event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. Please register in advance: Call Lizbeth at 847.724.8300 ext. 217. 

6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, Decarbonizing Your Home (in-person)
Join CUB at the Geneva Public Library (227 S 7th St, Geneva, IL 60134) for a presentation on making your home cleaner and more efficient. We will dive into ways renters and homeowners can access efficiency and cost-saving programs. Please register in advance here.

7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 10: Grow Geo Power Hour (online)
Join CUB, the Geothermal Alliance of Illinois, Go Green Northbrook and the Village of Northbrook for this free, live hour-long presentation to learn about the basics of geothermal and how it can save money and benefit the community. Please register in advance here.

3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 13: 4th Annual Wild Mile Block Party (in-person)
Find CUB’s table at Urban Rivers’ annual block party on the Wild Mile floating eco park (905 W. Eastman St., Chicago, IL 60642). Enjoy local beer, food trucks, and a prize drawing, while learning about local environmental nonprofits and volunteer opportunities. This event is free and fun for all ages. No registration is required. 

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Monday, July 14: State Senator Sue Rezin’s Annual Senior Fair (in-person)
State Sen. Sue Rezin’s Annual Senior Fair at Dekalb High School (501 Dresser Rd., Dekalb, IL 60115) is an opportunity for local and state agencies to inform seniors of the benefits that are available to them. No registration is required. Come visit the CUB table for helpful information about lowering utility bills, as well as giveaways!

7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 14: Navigating Solar Options (in-person)
Join CUB for a presentation on solar and the benefits of clean energy at Clarendon Hills Public Library (7 N. Prospect Ave., Clarendon, IL 60514). Listen to a CUB expert explain different solar programs and incentives in Illinois, why clean energy is more affordable and reliable, and incentives available to help consumers make their homes cleaner and more affordable. 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 17, Crestwood Utility Bill Clinic (in-person)
Join CUB at the Crestwood Public Library (4955 135th St., Crestwood, IL 60418) for a free event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills. 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, Home Energy Savings with CUB (in-person and online)
Join CUB at the Evergreen Park Public Library (9400 S. Troy Ave, Evergreen Park, IL 60805) to learn about your energy choices and ways to save money on your utility bills. This free event is designed to help participants better understand utility bills, avoid scams and learn about energy efficiency and solar programs that can help save money and energy. 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, Aurora Utility Bill Clinic (in-person)
Join CUB at the Financial Empowerment Center (712 S. River St., Aurora, IL 60506) for a free bilingual event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills in both English and Spanish. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. Please register in advance here

6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 24: Electric Vehicle Buyer’s Handbook Presentation (in-person)
Join CUB at Orland Park Public Library (14921 Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, IL 60462) for a free event focused on electric vehicles (EVs). During this presentation, a CUB specialist will walk through CUB’s EV Buyer’s Handbook. Join this event to learn tips and tricks designed to ensure you’re a better EV shopper. 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, Home Energy Savings with CUB (in-person and online)
Join CUB at the Elmhurst Public Library (125 S. Prospect Avenue, Elmhurst, IL 60126) to learn about your energy choices and ways to save money on your utility bills. This free event is designed to help participants better understand utility bills, avoid scams and learn about energy efficiency and solar programs that can help save money and energy. 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, Cable Options and Reducing Robocalls Presentation (online)
Join CUB and the Morton Grove Public Library for a free online presentation about your cable options and reducing robocalls. A CUB representative will discuss your choices in the TV market, ways to cut cable costs, streaming services available to consumers and how to avoid common robocall scams.
