CUB is asking Ameren customers to tell the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) to oppose excessive Ameren rate hikes.
This year, Ameren announced significant drops in its rates due to a decrease in the corporate tax rate on the delivery side of the bill and a drop in market electricity prices. Good news for customers, as this caused bills to go down.
However, Ameren currently has two rate-hike cases before the ICC. They’re requesting a $46 million natural gas increase, and a $71.75 million electric increase. Both rate hikes would take effect in 2019.
