Upcoming CUB events in May 2022

Happy May, everyone! Summer is just around the corner and it could be especially expensive for many Illinois consumers.

Below you will find several CUB events this month that can help you improve energy efficiency at home and protect your bottom line. We hope to see you there.

10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 4: Energy Efficiency Talk with Stickney Township (Part One)
Join CUB to learn more about energy efficiency programs that can help save you energy and money. Get information from CUB staff on consumer protections, how to decode your gas and electric bills, and learn about the latest Illinois energy policies and how they will impact you. This event will take place at the Stickney Township Office on Aging (7745 Leamington Ave, Burbank, IL 60459). There is no registration required. (Can’t make it? See Part Two on May 18.)

11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Thursday, May 12: Food-A-Versary
CUB will have its own table at the Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation’s event celebrating their two-year anniversary of serving the community. Come by for food and music, and stop by our table for information on cutting your utility bills. This event will take place at Save-A-Lot (7938 S. Halsted St., Chicago, IL 60620). There is no registration required.

10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Monday, May 16: Niles Senior Center Utility Bill Clinic
Join CUB at the Niles Senior Center (999 Civic Center Dr, Niles, IL 60714) for a free utility bill clinic. Please bring current copies of your gas, electric, cable, and phone bills for a CUB representative to review. At CUB’s clinic, you will receive information on spotting unnecessary charges on natural gas, electric, and phone bills and more. Please register with the Niles Senior Center at 847-588-8420.

9:00 – 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 18: Energy Efficiency Talk with Stickney Township (Part Two)
If you couldn’t make part one of this event, stop by the Stickney Township Office on Aging (7745 Leamington Ave, Burbank, IL 60459) for another chance to learn more about energy efficiency. There is no registration required.

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Monday, May 23: Schaumburg Township Utility Bill Clinic
CUB and Schaumburg Township (1 Illinois Blvd, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169) are hosting a free event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills.

6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25: Evanston Utility Bill Clinic with State Rep. Robyn Gabel
CUB and state Rep. Robyn Gabel are hosting a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. This event will take place at the Levy Senior Center (300 Dodge Ave, Evanston, IL 60202). Register here.
