CUB’s money-saving events in July

Below you will find several CUB events this month that can help you improve energy efficiency at home and protect your bottom line. We hope to see you!

6:00 – 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 5: Grow Geo Power Hour

Want to learn about geothermal heat pumps–a cheaper, cleaner way to heat your home? During this virtual presentation, you will learn about how they work, how they are designed and installed, system costs, savings, benefits and both financial and environmental incentives. 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 6: Home Decarb 101

Join CUB and Sustain DuPage for a virtual home-decarbonization event diving into ways renters and homeowners can access energy efficiency and cost-saving programs. Topics include the benefits of building electrification, new tax credits and rebates for home energy improvements available through the Inflation Reduction Act and heat pumps and induction stoves. 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 10: Utility Bill Clinic 

CUB is hosting a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. This event will take place at the Warren-Newport Public Library(224 O’Plaine Rd., Gurnee, IL 60031).Register here.

6:30 – 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 12: Solar Power Hour

Join CUB for a Solar Power Hour at Oak Park Public Library – Dole Branch (255 Augusta St, Oak Park, IL 60302). Residents throughout Cook, Kane, DuPage, Lake, and Will counties have an opportunity to participate in Solar Switch Chicagoland, a grassroots program combining volume purchasing with community education to make solar more accessible and affordable. Regardless of where you live in the counties, you can participate in any of the free informational Solar Power Hours. You’ll learn about the basics of solar, its financial benefits for a household, and how the solar group buy program works.

This event is co-hosted by the Village of Oak Park. We’re grateful for their support of our program!

6:30 – 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 13: Navigating Solar Options with CUB

Join CUB and the Bloomington Public Library for a webinar to learn if solar is right for your home and how to get the most value out of your solar system. Register here to receive a link to the webinar.

1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 17: Utility Savings and Avoiding Scams

In this presentation, CUB will help you better understand the ins and outs of your bill, how to avoid utility scams, and inform you about programs designed to save you money and energy. This event will take place at the Paul G. Stewart Center (400 E. 41st St., Chicago, IL 60653). 

4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 18: Chicago Mobile City Hall 

Join CUB at Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia’s Mobile City Hall, where community resources and City departments are brought directly to residents who are unable to commute downtown. CUB will have a table providing information on energy efficiency and your options in the gas and electric markets. This event will take place at Sherman Park (1301 W. 52nd St, Chicago, IL 60609).

12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 19: Utility Bill Clinic 

CUB is hosting a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. This event will take place at the Grayslake Area Public Library (100 Library Ln., Grayslake, IL 60030). Please call the library at (847) 665-1054 to register for a 30-minute appointment.

6:30 – 7:30 p.m., Monday, July 24: Community Solar with Laudato Si’ Ministries

Are you interested in going solar? Join CUB and Laudato Si’ Ministries of the Diocese of Joliet for a virtual presentation to learn about the benefits of community solar and consumer tips to know before diving in. Register here. 

1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 25: Home Energy Savings 

Join CUB, Sen. Bill Cunningham, Rep. Mary Gill and Worth Township Supervisor Patricia Murphy at this virtual presentation where we will show you how to decode your bills, spot errors, and take advantage of real programs designed to save energy and money. Bring all your utility-related questions. Register here.

Join CUB at this in-person presentation where we will show you how to decode your bills, spot errors and take advantage of real programs designed to save energy and money. Bring all your utility-related questions. This event will take place at the Brighton Park Branch of the Chicago Public Library (4314 S. Archer Ave., Chicago, IL 60632). 

10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 26: Cable Options and Reducing Robocalls 

Join CUB for a free presentation on your TV options and reducing robocalls. During this event, a CUB representative will discuss ways to cut your cable costs and the different choices in the TV market. This event will take place at Elk Grove Village Bank & Trust (100 Biesterfield Rd., Elk Grove Village, IL 60007). 

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 26: Cable Options and Reducing Robocalls 

Can’t make the morning presentation? Join CUB in the afternoon  for another free presentation on your TV options. This event will take place at Hoffman Estates Community Bank (1375 Palatine Rd., Hoffman Estates, IL 60192). 

4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 26: Chicago Mobile City Hall 

This event will take place at Ellis Park (3520 S. Cottage Grove Ave., Chicago, IL 60653). 

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Thursday, July 27: Utility Bill Clinic with State Senator Seth Lewis

CUB is partnering with Sen. Lewis to host a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. This event will take place at the Wheaton Public Library (225 N.. Cross St, Wheaton, IL 60187). Register here.
