Home Energy Assessment
At no cost to you, an Energy Advisor will walk through your home (buildings with 4 units or less) to suggest improvements and install money-saving products. Learn more on their website.
- Call 855-660-9378 or go online to schedule an assessment.
- During the assessment, the energy advisor will install free energy-efficient products.
- If you follow the suggested improvements, choose a contractor to perform the work and assist with your rebate.
- There is a virtual home assessment option as well.
Homeowners can receive:
- Programmable thermostat
- Faucet aerators
- WaterSense showerheads
- Hot water pipe insulation
- ENERGY STAR® certified LEDs
- Advanced Power Strips are available at a discount
- Select smart thermostats are available at a discount
Multi-Family Home Efficiency
If you own a multi-family building (with three or more units), you can receive a free multi-family energy assessment.
- Call 855-660-9378 or go online to schedule an assessment.
- Schedule a time to receive free energy-saving products.
- If you follow the suggested improvements, choose a contractor to perform the work and assist with your rebate.
Multi-family customers may receive:
- Faucet aerators for your kitchen(s) and bathroom(s)
- Water-saving showerheads
- Hot water pipe insulation
- Pre-rinse spray valves (common area only)
- Programmable thermostat (in-units only)
- ENERGY STAR® certified LEDs (in-units only)
Free Energy-Saving Kits
Nicor Gas customers can order a free water-saving kit online, which includes:
- Low-flow showerheads
- Shower timer
- Bathroom faucet aerators
- Dual-spray kitchen faucet aerator
- Plumber’s tape
The utility also offers a free weatherization kit that can be ordered online, which includes:
- 12-pack of outlet and switch foam gasket
- 17’ roll of closed cell foam tape weatherstripping
- 17’ roll of V-seal type weatherstripping
- Self-adhesive door sweep
- 30’ roll of rope caulk
Note: Free energy-saving kit will be mailed to your home for self-installation. If you choose to have the free assessment done, the contractor can install the products.
Residential Heating and Cooling Rebates
Rebates are available for energy efficiency improvements to all current residential Nicor Gas customers.
Program/Installation Requirements
- Find a professional contractor to install qualifying products or complete home improvements. Visit Nicor’s contractor website to find a professional. All products must be installed by a professional contractor unless noted.
- Apply within 90 days of installation or by January 31, whichever comes first.
- Air sealing and insulation do not require an application; the rebate will be taken off the invoice as a discount.
- Download and mail the completed rebate application or apply online.
