Thanks for the memories, Cliff!

20150813_CliffWirthPlease join us in tipping our hats to former Chicago Sun-Times cartoonist Cliff Wirth, who has now officially retired from The CUB Voice.

It’s hard to believe that The Voice began featuring his cartoons more than 15 years ago. The friendship began back in the spring of 2000 after CUB requested permission to use a cartoon of Cliff’s.

Cliff promptly called us back and said cheerfully: “Hey, I’m on your side!”

“It’s the end of an era for The CUB Voice,” CUB Communications Director Jim Chilsen said. “Cliff deserves a restful retirement, but he will be missed. The humor and talent that he shared with Illinois utility customers were matched only by his capacity for kindness toward CUB. Thank you, Cliff!”

Besides drawing for the Sun-Times and The CUB Voice, Cliff’s work has also been prominently displayed in magazines, newspapers, books and TV over the years.

Check out Cliff’s last hurrah with The CUB Voice, above, and below you can see some of our favorite Cliff cartoons over the years.

At your service!
