In this time of Thanksgiving, the CUB staff is thankful for you, our loyal supporters. We so appreciate your interest in fighting rate hikes, scams, annoying robocalls, and anything else that makes us pay more for telecom, gas, and electric service. Thank you!
Because of your interest and involvement…
- Our legal team in 2019 worked on cases before the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) that have the potential to secure $90 million in refunds, rate cuts and other consumer benefits.
- The consumer advocacy and outreach teams this year have shown people how to save a total of $250,000. (We staffed a record 529 events.)
- The policy team in Springfield helped pass historic legislation, the HEAT Act, which on January 1 will provide the strongest Illinois protections ever against energy rip-offs.
For seven straight years (2012-2018) our good work has helped Illinois secure the lowest average electric bills in the Midwest. That’s why we must fight big, out-of-state power generators and their friends in Washington who are on a campaign to raise those bills.
Thank you for leading the charge for cheaper, cleaner energy and better utility service. We wish you and your family a happy Thanksgiving and a peaceful holiday season.
P.S. Next week is “Giving Tuesday” (Dec. 3), the international day for supporting nonprofits. It also kicks off CUB’s membership renewal campaign. Special early-bird offer: Join now with a donation of $30 or more and you can get our Giving Tuesday gift early. It’s a handy portable cellphone charger, with a built-in LED light. A perfect stocking stuffer.
