Upcoming CUB events for November 2021

The chilly, wet days of November are officially upon us, but luckily CUB has a number of events to help you stay warm while saving money.

Below is a round-up of events CUB is staffing in November. Most of them are virtual events, which means you can “attend” them and receive money-saving tips  from the comfort of your own home. 

12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 2: Alternative Supplier and Electric Bills

Join Elevate’s William Higgs and CUB’s Scott Allen  to discuss alternative suppliers, energy regulation and rising electric costs. Tune in at the Elevate Community Events Facebook page. 

7:00 – 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 4: Environmental Town Hall with Senator Villivalam and Representative Wang Stoneback (Details on the Climate & Equitable Jobs Act)

Join CUB, Illinois Sierra Club, Faith in Place, and the Illinois Environmental Council for a virtual town hall about the Climate & Equitable Jobs Act, groundbreaking energy legislation that Sen. Villivalam and Rep. Wang Stoneback sponsored. Register for the virtual event here. 

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Monday, Nov. 8: Hoffman Estates Utility Bill Clinic 

CUB and Schaumburg Township (1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates, IL, 60169) are hosting a free event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. This event is in -person. It will be first come, first served and there is no registration required.

6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10: CUB Fall Series, Virtual Utility Bill Clinic

In the final event of the CUB Fall Series, CUB will host a free virtual utility bill clinic to advise consumers on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to discuss their bills in a private and secure video call. Reserve your spot here. 

9:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, Nov. 12: Senior Health Fair

CUB will have a table at the Senior Health Fair hosted by Sens. Dan McConchie, Donald DeWitte, and Craig Wilcox at McHenry County College (8900 US Highway 14, Crystal Lake, IL, 60012). This is an in-person event. Join us to discuss programs and services aimed at saving energy and money. 

7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18: Energy Savings with CUB 

Join CUB and the Gail Borden Public Library (270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin, IL, 60120) for a free, virtual webinar designed to save you money and make your home more comfortable. During the webinar, a CUB expert will discuss consumer protections during the COVID-19 pandemic and free efficiency programs designed to save you energy and more. Please register here.
