Upcoming CUB events in September 2022

As we get closer to the winter heating season, it’s time to start thinking of cooler weather and preparing your home for it.

Below you will find a jam-packed schedule of free CUB events this month that can help you improve energy efficiency at home and protect your bottom line. We hope to see you!

6:00 – 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6: Understanding Cable and Reducing Robocalls with CUB

Join CUB and the Fossil Ridge Library (386 W Kennedy Rd, Braidwood, IL 60408) for an in-person presentation on your cable options and reducing robocalls. During this event, a CUB representative will discuss ways to cut your cable costs and the different choices in the TV market. Register here. 

6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7: City of Chicago Solar Power Hour

Thinking about going solar? Join us for an in-person Solar Power Hour where you’ll learn about the basics of solar, its financial implications for a household, and how the Grow Solar Chicagoland group-buy program secures discounts for participants. After the session, you can set up a free, no-obligation site assessment from the competitively selected installer. This event will take place at the Coleman Branch of the Chicago Public Library (731 E 63rd St, Chicago, IL 60637). 

6:00 – 7:15 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8: Rate Crisis: The People’s Energy Teach-in

Ameren customers are noticing that their electric bills have been considerably higher over the summer. This is because of a perfect storm of factors: Prices for fossil fuels like gas are spiking and we have a backlog of new clean energy projects waiting to come online. Join CUB for a virtual teach-in exploring these issues and looking for solutions. Register here. 

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12: Schaumburg Township Utility Bill Clinic

CUB and Schaumburg Township (1 Illinois Blvd, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169) are hosting a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. 

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13: Utility Bill Clinic with Lansing Public Library

CUB and Lansing Public Library (2750 Indiana Ave, Lansing, IL 60438) are hosting a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. Register here. 

6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15: Understanding Cable and Reducing Robocalls with CUB

Join CUB and the Reddick Public Library (1010 Canal St, Ottawa, IL 61350) for an in-person presentation on your cable options and reducing robocalls. During this event, a CUB representative will discuss ways to cut your cable costs and the different choices in the TV market. 

10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17: Chicago Mobile City Hall

Join CUB at Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia’s Mobile City Hall, where community resources and city departments are brought directly to residents who are unable to commute downtown. CUB will have a table providing information on energy efficiency and your options in the gas and electric markets. This event will take place at Lindblom Park (6054 S Damen Ave, Chicago, IL 60636).

1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20: Navigating Solar Options with CUB 

Join CUB and Chicago Ald. Matt O’Shea for an online presentation to learn more about the benefits of Solar for All and community solar, how to access those programs and consumer tips to know before diving in. Register here. 

6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21: Utility Bill Clinic with Villa Park Public Library 

CUB and Villa Park Public Library (305 Ardmore Ave, Villa Park, IL 60181) are hosting a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. Register here. 

10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22: Chicago Mobile City Hall 

CUB will have a table at this Mobile City Hall event at Independence Park (3945 N Springfield Ave, Chicago, IL 60618). 

5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26: Utility Bill Clinic with Frankfort Public Library 

CUB and Frankfort Public Library (21119 S Pfeiffer Rd, Frankfort, IL 60423) are hosting a free in-person event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. Registration is available by 30-minute increments on the library’s online calendar of events.

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28: Aurora Utility Bill Clinic 

CUB is hosting a free in-person event at the Aurora Public Library – West Branch (233 S Constitution Dr, Aurora, IL 60506) to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. This event is co-hosted by state Rep. Keith Wheeler and state Sen. Linda Holmes. Please register by calling Rep. 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29: Going Electric: On the Road and In Your Home

Join CUB and the Cook County Department of Environment & Sustainability to discuss beneficial electrification through electric vehicles (EV) and building decarbonization. Learn about the myths and benefits of EVs, solar energy, the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act and current utility programs designed to help customers save money and energy. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. This event will take place at the Green Hills Public Library (10331 Interlochen Dr, Palos Hills, IL 60465). Register here.
