“She’s phenomenal!”

We received a call recently from a consumer ecstatic over the savings she discovered after speaking with one of our staffers at a utility bill clinic in Elmhurst. Theresia, of Wood Dale, learned how to shave $53.10 per month off her bills, thanks to guidance from CUB Environmental Outreach Coordinator Laura Goldberg.

“She’s phenomenal!” said the consumer.

We think so, too!  So how did Laura do it?

1) She suggested Theresia switch her gas and electric supply companies. The Wood Dale consumer was with alternative suppliers that were charging her more than the regular utility. Potential savings: $17.91 per month.

2) She advised Theresia to switch her local phone plan to AT&T’s Consumer’s Choice Plus plan. For long distance, she recommended Pioneer. Potential savings: $35.19 per month.

Total potential savings: $53.10 a month, or $637.20 a year.

Laura also generated the largest savings at the clinic that day when she saved a woman $65.38 per month by recommending she cancel her contract with Nicor Advanced Energy, opt out of a contract with Spark Energy and switch her AT&T phone plan.

Way to go, Laura!
