[Breaking] Fight bad water bill (again)

A few months ago, Gov. Rauner signed a horrible bill—an update to the Water Privatization Act. The bill allows the state’s biggest private water companies to buy up municipal water systems and raise rates for customers across Illinois.

Well, there’s an exciting development: Due to a legal technicality, the General Assembly has to pass the bill again! (The old law sunset on June 1, but the governor didn’t sign the bill until August.)

That means everyone who hates high water bills can fight again to improve this legislation. (How? By requiring communities to hold a referendum before they can sell their public water systems to private water monopolies.)

But we have to act now. The General Assembly is meeting this very minute in its Fall Veto Session. Please, take a stand to stop the big water monopolies from raising our rates.
