With the onset of the winter heating season, CUB’s Outreach team will travel Illinois and staff free events to give consumers energy efficiency tips for their home, educate them on how clean energy can cut their utility bills and help people protect themselves from scams and rip-offs. Join CUB and Urban Rivers at Wild Mile (billed as the “world’s first-ever floating eco-park,” 905 W. Eastman Street, Chicago, IL 60642) for a presentation on cleaner and more affordable ways to heat and power your home. We’ll discuss tips to improve your home’s energy efficiency and how to make the switch from more traditional gas heating and cooking to electrification. As part of a yearlong celebration of CUB’s 40th Anniversary, Executive Director Sarah Moskowitz will talk with former CUB leader David Kolata. After 18 years as CUB’s executive director, during which he helped pass historic energy legislation, David left CUB to work at a climate tech company that designs, manages, and finances home weatherization and electrification projects. David and Sarah will talk about the biggest issues facing Illinois utility customers in 2024.
