6:30 – 7:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 12, The CUB Electric Vehicle (EV) Buyer’s Handbook (in-person/online event)
Join CUB at the Tinley Park Public Library (1st floor – Meeting Room A&B, 7851 Timber Dr., Tinley Park, IL, 60477) for a free presentation focused on the benefits of electric vehicles (EVs). During this presentation, a CUB specialist will walk you through the consumer group’s free EV Buyer’s Handbook. You will learn tips to help you become a better EV shopper. Sign-up is required. Join CUB, Sierra Club Illinois and Third Act Illinois at the Chicago Public Library’s Lincoln Belmont Branch (1659 W. Melrose Street Chicago, IL 60657) to learn about efforts to secure clean, affordable heat and cooking for residents of Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. We will discuss how switching to electric appliances can reduce your carbon footprint, lower energy costs, and protect your health. We will also be discussing the campaign to pass the Clean and Affordable Buildings Ordinance (CABO), which would create a plan to reduce building emissions in Chicago. Join CUB and Kane County for a free, live, hour-long Zoom presentation on the basics of geothermal heat pump systems, how they can save you money and how they can benefit our community. Join CUB at the Homer Township Public Library (Community Meeting Room, 14320 W. 151st Street, Homer Glen, IL, 60491) for a free Utility Bill Clinic. We will advise residents on reducing electric, gas, cable and landline/cellphone bills. Bring current copies of your bills and you will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor who can review your bills, answer your questions and give you money-saving tips.
