Happy Earth Month: CUB’s money-saving events in April

CUB’s Outreach team travels across the state to staff free events, giving consumers energy efficiency tips for their home, educating them on how clean energy can cut their utility bills, and helping people protect themselves from scams and rip-offs. Join CUB at one of our April events to learn how to protect your wallet and the planet!

11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 4, EnviroFest (in-person)
Join CUB and state Rep. Lindsey LaPointe at the Portage Park Fieldhouse (4100 N. Long Ave., Chicago, IL 60641) for the third annual EnviroFest, an environmental resource fair featuring resources from various local and statewide advocates and organizations, as well as several interactive activities. 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, Home Energy Savings + Internet Options and Data Privacy: What you need to know (online)
Join Chicago Ald. Matt O’Shea, state Sen. Bill Cunningham, state Rep. Mary Gill and CUB to learn how to reduce your energy costs. This event is designed to help you better understand your energy bills, avoid utility scams and learn more about programs designed to save you energy and money. Join CUB at the Skokie Public Library (5215 Oakton St., Skokie, IL 60077) to learn about low- and no-cost renewable energy and efficiency programs to help you upgrade your home and lower your utility bills. Drop in anytime to browse resources, speak with experts, and enjoy free giveaways. 

7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 13, Home Energy Savings and Navigating Solar Options (online) 
Join CUB to learn about your energy choices, ways to save money on your utility bills and solar options. Afterwards, representatives from the McHenry County Conservation District, McHenry County Citizens Climate Lobby, and the Illinois Solar Education group will be on hand to answer questions and explain how their organizations promote sustainable practices. 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, Zion Senior Resource Expo (in-person)
Join CUB at the Zion Sports Arena (2400 Dowie Memorial Dr., Zion, IL 60099) for the 24th Annual Zion Senior Resource Expo. This event brings more than 60 senior service exhibitors together to share information about their programs and services. 

5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, Navigating Solar Options (in-person)
Join CUB and the Chicago Environmentalists at the Sulzer Regional Library (4455 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, IL 60625) for a presentation on solar and the benefits of clean energy. Listen to a CUB expert explain different solar programs and incentives available, why clean energy is more affordable and reliable, and how different state policies benefit consumers.
