As we face another hot summer, the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) is holding free events to give you money-saving energy efficiency tips to help you stay cool and safe without wasting energy. We hope to see you at an event soon!
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, Chicago Community Resource Fair (in-person)
Join CUB, Cook County Commissioner Bridget Degnen, and U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley at the Irish American Heritage Center (4626 N. Knox Ave., Chicago, IL 60630) for a free resource fair. Visit CUB’s table to get tips on saving energy and money the hot summer.
2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, Village Bank Resource Fair (in-person)
Join CUB at the Village Bank & Trust (1545 Ellinwood Ave., Des Plaines, IL 60016) to learn how to reduce your utility bills, discover missing money, and review your current investments. Participants can speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to receive a personalized analysis of bills and possibly tap into money-saving, clean-energy programs. A representative from the Illinois Treasurer’s Office will be available to check if you have unclaimed money. And you’ll have an opportunity for a one-on-one meeting with a Wintrust expert to see whether you are investing your money properly. Join CUB and state Sen. Sue Rezin at the DeKalb High School (501 W. Dresser Rd., DeKalb, IL 60115) for a free Senior Fair. The Senior Fair is an opportunity for local and state agencies to inform senior citizens of the benefits that are available to them. Visit CUB’s table to get answers about utility bills and to receive tips on saving energy and money.
12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, Belleville Utility Bill Clinic (in-person)
Join CUB and state Rep. Jay Hoffman at the Southwestern Illinois Justice & Workforce Development Campus (2300 W. Main St., Belleville, IL 62226) for a free event on how to reduce your utility bills and tap into money-saving, clean energy programs. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to receive a personalized analysis of their bills. Please register in advance here.
6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, Skokie Solar Power Hour (in-person)
Join CUB and the Village of Skokie at Take Flight Spirits (8038 Lincoln Ave., Skokie, IL 60077) for a Solar Power Hour presentation. Learn about Switch Together Chicagoland and how you can incorporate solar in your community through other programs like community solar and Illinois Solar for All (ILSFA).
