CUB has launched its annual consumer campaign in June to rally Illinoisans against billions of dollars in rate hikes.
We hope every community in Illinois signs our Rate-hike Fighters Petition. Take a look at the rate-hike battles CUB General Counsel Julie Soderna and Senior Attorney Christie R. Hicks are juggling before the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC):
$138 million ComEd rate hike: CUB’s legal team will fight to eliminate wasteful spending and reduce the rate hike as much as possible. An ICC ruling is due in December.
$14 million Ameren electric rate cut: CUB is analyzing Ameren’s proposed rate cut in hopes of securing an even bigger decrease when the ICC rules on the case in December.
$43 million Illinois American Water rate hike: An ICC ruling is due late in the year, but CUB and other consumer advocates have turned up the heat by proposing that state regulators slash the rate hike by more than 60 percent.
$4 billion in projected cost overruns: Attorney General Lisa Madigan and CUB got the parent company of Peoples Gas to cough up $10 million in consumer refunds, for failing to reveal that a pipe-replacement program had $4 billion in projected cost overruns. Now we’ve got to reform the program and fight for refunds of any wasteful spending.
Please, help Julie and Christie! Join CUB’s Consumer Campaign today!
